Overview
As Group Senior Customs Manager you will have responsibility for managing the group's global customs compliance. The role will also include supporting the Head of Tax and Customs and the business as Mountain Warehouse grows and expands as well as the customs landscape changes.
What you'll be doing
- Manage the customs compliance process in the UK and internationally, including classification and valuation data submitted on customs entries.
- Oversee the regular audit of customs entries to support our AEO status.
- Provide advice to the business on the implications of key transactions, change initiatives and expansion decisions of the Group.
- Identifying, analysing and proactively mitigating current risks.
- Partnering with the wider business to clarify how differing duty rates impact the business.
- Support the improvement of the systems which govern and affect customs, particularly documentation.
- Manage the Customs Warehouse implementation project and wider roll out of improved processes around the world using the preferred customs broker.
- Support the budget, forecasting and monitoring processes from a customs duty perspective.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in global customs legislation, communicate these with key stakeholders and ensure systems and processes are updated accordingly.
- Day to day management and development of the team of Customs specialists.
We'd love to meet someone with
- Strong track record of delivering compliance effectively and efficiently.
- Some experience in a commercial environment.
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and get into and question the detail.
- Commercially aware and able to build relationships with stakeholders across the business.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience working with ERPs and the customs data flows within them
- Ideally would hold a relevant professional qualification in customs (e.g. Customs practitioner or CTA/ADIT).
